Blind Rescue Dog Feels Love for the First Time

Meet Benki, a resilient and courageous dog who was left abandoned in Lara, Venezuela on November 5th. Despite his difficult circumstances, Benki's spirit remained unbroken, even though he was blind and missing his right back leg, which was likely due to mistreatment and neglect.

Sadly, Benki's story is not uncommon for male dogs from "dog factories." These animals are often abandoned when they are no longer deemed useful, making it difficult for them to find a safe and loving home.

Although Benki's physical wounds were serious, an X-ray revealed that he had not suffered any major internal injuries. However, his mental state was fragile and required a great deal of attention and care. As he was not accustomed to being blind, he often became disoriented and cried out for comfort.

Despite the challenges he faced, Benki is an intelligent and mature dog who responded well to his caretakers' efforts to soothe and comfort him. Within a week of being in their care, he began to adjust to his new surroundings and could identify the direction of voices.

After 10 days of training, Benki was ready for his first walk outside, even though he could not see. With the help of specially designed glasses, he has since become a normal, happy dog. He has gained weight and is enjoying daily exercise routines that are tailored to his needs.

At the shelter, Benki is being motivated to climb up and down stairs, which is helping to rebuild his strength and confidence. He is also receiving unlimited love and attention from his caregivers, who are committed to finding him a loving forever home.

We are grateful to a kind-hearted woman who gave Benki a second chance at life. His story is a testament to the resilience and strength of animals who have been neglected. With love and care, even the most vulnerable animals can heal and thrive.
